I qualified as a Medical herbalist in 2004 from the University of Westminster. Prior to that I had spent ten years in the herb industry working on product development and manufacturing. I have been in full time practice since I qualified.
My primary interest is using herbs and other lifestyle interventions to improve general health. I derive a great deal of satisfaction from helping people make incremental improvements to their wellbeing and directly addressing specific health issues.
I work both on a one to one basis and with groups. Group work has included research projects looking at diet and health, assessing the impact of dietary changes on overall health and performance. This has greatly influenced my practice, and I will often recommend dietary strategies to individual patients alongside the herbs.
With the herbs I like to know what I’m dealing with. I source my herbs locally wherever possible, and use international suppliers that I have worked with for many years and who I trust to provide the best quality for medicine making. I make most of the medicines from dried herbs, having set up Urban Fringe Dispensary in 2009, where manufacturing and dispensing take place.
I offer one to one consultations in person in Bristol, or via skype or other online services for people who are unable to come to the clinic.
