Habitat: Saw palmetto is a type of small palm tree which reaches 1-4m in height. It has fan shaped leaves with deeply divided segments radiating from a central stem and black fleshy berries which dry hard and shiny. Saw palmetto grows natively in the West Indies, and southern USA.
Constituents: Fixed oil which has a high proportion of fstty acids such as oleic, lauric, myristic, linoleic acids amongst others, volatile oil, sterols and phenolic acids including ferulic and vanillic acids.
