Avoid in states of agitated depression (rhodiola), with high blood pressure, sleep apnoea, narcolepsy, mental illness, heart disease, a compromised immune system, chronic fatigue (siberian ginseng) and during acute fevers (schisandra). Avoid during acute infections without professional advice (siberian ginseng). Use with caution alongside cholestasis and sensitive digestion (gotu kola).
Individuals taking digoxin or hexobarbital may suffer adverse reactions; seek advice before taking (siberian ginseng).
