Habitat: Native to southern Europe and grows wild in salt marshes or salty ground. 

Constituents: Volatile oil, furanocoumarins, fixed oil and flavonoids. 

Actions: Carminative, Diuretic, Hypotensive, Urinary antiseptic, Anti-inflammatory, Antirheumatic, Spasmolytic

Traditional and current uses:

• Traditionally used as a nervine, helping to lift mood. 

• Indigestion 

• Flatulence 

• Urinary tract inflammation and cystitis
