Tincture of black cohosh (Cimicifuga racemosa) 1:3 45%

Cimicifuga racemosa. organic grain alcohol

Adult dose 0.4 - 2ml per day, unless otherwise prescribed.

Should not be used in pregnancy or by breast feeding mothers. Do not use if you are receiving hormonal therapy for cancer, such as tamoxifen.




Primary Constituents:

  • Triterpene glycosides, xylosides, actein, cimicifugoside, 27-deoxyactein
  • Isoflavone formonetin (more concentrated in the aerial parts of the plant).
  • Isoferulic and salicylic acids

Research on Cimicifuga supports the following effects:

  • Reduces serum LH levels
  • Prevents osteoporosis
  • No uterotrophic effects
  • Oestrogenic effect on urinary bladder (possibly helpful in incontinence)
  • Dopaminergic activity
  • Decreases LH; improves FSH/LH ratio
  • Improved pregnancy rates in women with PCOS being treated with clomiphene
